Mountain Health, a private, nonprofit regional community health center providing health care, health education and community services, named Arthur Blain, M.D., as its new chief medical officer.

Blain had a family practice residency at the University of California, San Diego, and he is Board Certified in family medicine and Board Eligible in hospice and palliative medicine. He has special clinical interests in diabetes, asthma, and sports medicine, according to Mountain Health.

Blain graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a bachelor’s in biochemistry. He received his medical doctorate from New York Medical College on a U.S. Air Force scholarship. He then completed an internship at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, and served in Washington, D.C., and the Republic of South Korea.

Mountain Health has four clinics located in downtown San Diego, Escondido, Campo and Alpine. It mostly serves the Mountain Empire region and rural East County. Mountain Health also operates the Mountain Empire Community Center in Campo.
